Although she did not win the title, Shakira said she was satisfied with what she achieved.

“The joy and pride is indescribable. The crown went to the very beautiful Mrs. South Africa, but I won a crown of love that I will never lose. I was born in Limon, a town with a history of deprivation and lack of opportunity, but rich in passion, culture and love. We need to stop excuses and find solutions ourselves, be worthy and courageous, overcome to achieve our goals. I’m now a complete winner, won the respect and recognition of our people,” Shakira wrote on her Facebook page.

In an interview with La Nacion’s VIVA before leaving for China, Shakira said, “This is a beauty contest and beauty is very important, but more than all is charisma, intelligence and discipline. I think those three factors are that at the end what take you to the top.”
